Kevin Burns is a Managing Director in the Chicago office at Andersen. He has over 20 years of experience in advising clients on a broad range of tax matters from transactional planning to compliance with ASC 740 and regulatory tax filings. 

Kevin focuses on providing integrated tax planning for private equity groups and middle market companies and on the coordination of delivery of tax consulting and compliance services to his respective clients.   

Kevin frequently advises clients on M&A tax matters such as pre-sale planning, tax structuring, and tax due diligence. Specifically, he facilitates tax-efficient structuring of transactions which has included analysis of purchase price allocation issues, implementing step-up and rollover structures, determining the appropriate debt-equity mix, considering planning alternatives for repatriation and cross border financing, and enhancing the use of net operating loss and foreign tax credit carry-forwards. He has consulted on domestic and cross-border transactions of up to $3.5 billion in enterprise value in the manufacturing, distribution and business services industries.

He is often involved in the integration of post-transaction tax issues including addressing the business combination requirements of ASC 740, analyzing the tax treatment of transaction costs and simplifying the tax structure through entity rationalization. Kevin also serves as the lead engagement partner for several publicly traded companies and is a technical resource for ASC 740 matters.

Before joining Andersen, Kevin was a Tax Partner in an international professional services firm.
