Donald Williams has over 30 years of experience working for international accounting firms advising clients in a variety of areas. Specifically on the state tax implications of corporate reorganization and apportionment engineering; assisting with state tax controversy issues and evaluating potential income & franchise and sales & use tax exposure. Prior to Andersen, Donald worked for EY, PwC, then KMPG. He also originated the tax department of a publicly traded biotechnology firm and served as its Tax Manager for three years.

Donald has significant experience in assisting companies in reviewing their entity-level income & franchise tax; sales & transaction tax returns and identifying opportunities related to their taxes.

Donald also has other state and local tax experience including the following:

  • Work with biotechnology and healthcare companies to assist them in obtaining sales tax refunds and research & development credits related to their manufacturing and research operations
  • Consult on ASF 740 reviews of state income tax returns and trial balances for purposes of determining tax reserves for financial statement disclosure
  • Assist clients in resolving state tax audits and negotiating tax settlement agreements and preparing refund claims, appeals, and other written petitions and correspondence with, various state and local jurisdictions
  • Evaluate and mitigate potential tax exposure through review of client business activities including reviews for purposes of due diligence for merger and acquisition opportunities
  • Provide consulting and review of company trial balances and apportionment methodologies to assist in reducing multistate income and franchise taxes
  • Research and analysis of state and local tax regulations
  • Assist in the implementation of company reorganizations related to inventory management and consulting on the state tax consequences of the company structure
