Andersen Speaks at Private Equity & Hedge Fund Tax Event

FRA’s 6th Annual Private Investment Funds Tax Master Class takes place June 15-16 at the Princeton Club in New York, NY and features concurrent private equity and hedge fund tracks. A number of Andersen Managing Directors will be participating in the event as speakers.

Ken Wroblewski will cover the Latest on PFIC Regulations and Reporting Requirements. His topic takes a look at the latest PFIC regulations including best practices for calculating QEF info, handling disclosures for 10% or more shareholders of the offshore fund and putting PFIC information and disclosures on a K-1s.

Richard Jahn will co-present Advanced Compensation Structures for Managers, GPS and Portfolio Players which will guide the audience in negotiating the current deferral regime including how the terms are being structured, potential tax benefits of management fee waivers, waterfalls and profit allocations and tax discrepancies.

Finally, Tax Considerations for Investments in Debt Products will be presented by Chris Spiegelman. He will discuss debt purchases and equity exchanges, treatment of direct lending transactions, tax treatment of distressed debt, concluding with the latest trends in deal structuring and dealing with ECI issues.

Ken Wroblewski has more than 9 years of public accounting experience with a focus in the asset management industry. He provides tax compliance and consulting services to a variety of clients including management companies, hedge funds, private equity funds, fund of funds, and family offices. He also has significant experience assisting with ASC 740 reviews as they relate to the financial services industry. Ken has also performed monthly and quarterly investor reporting services for his clients.  

Richard Jahn has over 25 years of diverse tax experience, including extensive knowledge of alternative investments, partnership taxation and multistate taxation. Richard focuses on assisting investment partnerships with tax planning and compliance, fund accounting, fund administration, and structuring. Richard’s skills also include consulting with general partners and managers regarding their individual taxation, estate planning, audit defense as well as federal and state tax compliance for management companies.

Chris Spiegelman has over 20 years of diverse tax experience including extensive knowledge of alternative investments, partnership taxation and real estate taxation. He focuses on assisting investment partnerships with tax planning and compliance, fund structuring and fund accounting and administration. Chris’ skills also include consulting with general partners and managers regarding their individual taxation, estate planning as well as federal and state compliance for management companies.
