beFIT Program Focuses on Employee Wellness

In April of 2016 Andersen teamed with Fitbit to encourage a healthy, happy lifestyle for our employees and their families. As part of the program, each employee received a Fitbit to help keep track of daily steps.

“The program so far has been quite successful,” says Nancy Power, Managing Director, Human Resources. “From the outset, there has been a tremendous amount of enthusiasm, evident not only in the step count, but also in our hallways, breakrooms and offices where there is a lot of buzz.”

Firm organized team challenges have kept participants active and inspired throughout the summer.

The current competition, “Keep Calm and Continue Stepping On” encourages people to take as many steps as possible between the challenge period of August 1 and September 30. The three offices with the highest daily combined average steps at the end of the period will win prizes.

“The challenges have been really fun and a great way to get our offices working as a team. A lot of people are participating, so that little bit of competitiveness gives us the extra push to reach our goals” added Callahan Ceplenski, Associate in the Boston office.

As the end of the year tax season gets underway, focusing on health can take a back seat to the impending tax filing deadlines. The hope is that the beFIT program will function as a prompt to take regular breaks to get steps in while we continue to focus on our primary goal of serving clients.

“We think having the highest quality professionals in the industry requires a broader focus on employee wellness,” explains Mark Vorsatz, CEO of Andersen. “Our people are our greatest asset; professional learning and development is imperative, but we also know that health and happiness are key contributors to being best-in-class.”
