MacNeil to Present Tax Accounting Issues in Mergers and Acquisitions

Tax Accounting Issues in Mergers and Acquisitions will take place December 4th in Los Angeles, CA as part of the three day conference, Tax Strategies for Corporate Acquisitions, Dispositions, Spin-Offs, Joint Ventures, Financings, Reorganizations & Restructurings 2013 organized by the Practising Law Institute (PLI). PLI is a non-profit continuing legal education organization chartered by the Regents of the University of the State of New York, founded in 1933. PLI is dedicated to providing the legal community and allied professionals with the most up-to-date, relevant information and techniques which are critical to the development of a professional, competitive edge.

Ellen will discuss tax accounting issues arising from taxable and tax-free acquisitions and dispositions including treatment of M&A expenses, success-based fees, milestone payments, break-up fees, abandoned transactions and capitalized costs. She will also explore recent regulations and accounting method issues.

Ellen leads the WTAS National Tax Office. She has over 30 years of experience in tax consulting for major U.S. businesses. A member of the board of directors of The Tax Council, she has also served as chair of the ABA Taxation Section’s Tax Accounting Committee and chair of the AICPA’s Tax Accounting Committee. She has chaired the ABA Taxation Section’s Committee on Government Submissions and has also served as a member of the Executive Committee of the AICPA’s Tax Division.
