Orea and Tauber to Speak at Chicago Tax Club
The Chicago Tax Club 2014 Summer Seminar takes place on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Saddle & Cycle Club in Chicago, IL. WTAS Managing Directors, Jim Tauber and Jackie Orea, are participating in the session, Recent Sales and Use Tax Law Changes Effecting Manufacturing. Tauber is moderating and Orea is one of two speakers on a panel focused on changes impacting manufacturing in Minnesota, California and other states.
With over 30 years of experience, Jim Tauber brings expertise to each session where discussion topics will include recent/proposed changes affecting property taxes, what to include in a due diligence review to determine if there are outstanding or hidden sales/use tax liabilities and other relevant issues. Jim has extensive business and tax experience including providing tax, technology, and business consulting services in many areas of state and local sales/use and transaction taxes. Before joining WTAS, Jim worked in the state and local tax practices at two international professional services firms where he served as regional service-line leader of the sales/use tax automation practices, focusing on transaction tax process improvement and technology implementation.
Jackie Orea has over 17 years of experience in delivering tax services to public and private corporate enterprises. As a member of WTAS’ State and Local Tax group, Jackie specializes in the sales /use tax and credits and incentives area. She has assisted clients with various multi-state sales use tax and property tax issues including audit defense, compliance, restructuring projects and consulting on various transactions. Jackie manages the tax function for clients without an internal tax department. She has assisted clients in obtaining refunds for a variety of statutory credits aggregating millions of dollars and obtained training grants. While she now focuses primarily on sales /use tax and credits and incentives, Jackie also assists clients on their multistate corporate tax income/franchise tax issues.
