Institute for Professionals in Tax (IPT), founded in 1976, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational association serving over 4400 members representing approximately 1450 corporations, firms, or taxpayers throughout the United States and Canada. It is the only professional organization that educates, certifies and establishes strict codes of conduct for state and local income, property and sales & use tax professionals who represent taxpayers (government officials or organizations do not qualify for membership). The Institute also provides excellent educational programs in Value Added Tax (VAT) and Credits & Incentives.

The 2014 Sales Tax Symposium will take place Sunday, September 21 - Wednesday, September 24 at the Marriott Renaissance Washington in Washington, DC.

Jim Tauber will take part in presenting Implementing a Sales and Use Tax System covering best practices of sales and use tax system implementations, potential pitfalls to avoid, and keys to a successful implementation and efficient system. The session will include a discussion of the implementation process, including budgeting, scope identification, critical team members, go-live, and evaluating the success of the implementation and implemented system.

With over 30 years of experience, Jim Tauber brings expertise to each session where discussion topics will include recent/proposed changes affecting property taxes, what to include in a due diligence review to determine if there are outstanding or hidden sales/use tax liabilities and other relevant issues.  Jim has extensive business and tax experience including providing tax, technology, and business consulting services in many areas of state and local sales/use and transaction taxes.  Before joining Andersen Tax, Jim worked in the state and local tax practices at two international professional services firms where he served as regional service-line leader of the sales/use tax automation practices, focusing on transaction tax process improvement and technology implementation.
