Coombs to Speak on ASC 740 Issues

The annual George Mason University Tax & Accounting Conference provides a forum for accountants, auditors, audit committee members, CFOs, and members of academia to hear first-hand from expert speakers about the latest trends in accounting and auditing and taxation. It takes place November 17, 2015 at the Fairview Park Marriott in Falls Church, VA.

Luke Coombs will present on  "ASC 740: How current trends, changes to GAAP provisions and tax laws could affect the income tax provision" at 1:00PM EST. ASC 740, formerly known as FAS 109, is a set of financial accounting and reporting standards addressing the income tax-related consequences of a company’s current and past transactions. The new and forthcoming guidance on ASC 740 is expected to add to the complexity of these standards. Luke will discuss current issues affecting public company audits that may trickle down to private company audits, independence requirements, the “naked credit” and other general impacts of these provisions and laws.

Luke Coombs has over 20 years of experience in delivering tax services to business enterprises and individuals. He has expertise in tax planning, consulting and compliance. He also works extensively with large and small companies regarding Accounting for Income Taxes (FASB ASC 740) services, including implementing accounting for uncertain tax positions. For insurance companies, he has provided assistance relating to SSAP 10 for statutory reporting purposes. He helps companies evaluate and plan acquisition structures and methods, and provides due diligence services.
