Freda Speaking at 25th Annual Paul J. Hartman SALT Forum in Nashville

The Paul J. Hartman State and Local Tax Forum provides industry, practitioners and state revenue employees an opportunity to participate in discussion of significant national developments and trends in state and local taxation. The 25th annual Paul J. Hartman SALT Forum will take place October 17-19, 2018 at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. Andersen Tax Managing Director, Ray Freda, will be a speaker at the event on Friday, October 19. He will lead a session titled Stranger in a Strange Land – Ethics and Multi-Jurisdictional Practice Issue. 

The session will focus on and review the ethical duties imposed on state and local tax practitioners who represent clients in multiple jurisdictions. The presentation will also focus on the admission-to-practice and related requirements of the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, the IPT Canon of Ethics, the AICPA Statements on Standards for Tax Services, and select state ethics rules and will apply those requirements to pre-litigation activities and litigation proceedings.

The Paul J. Hartman State and Local Tax Forum has taken place annually for over 25 years. The forum features speakers with knowledge, expertise, and communication skills to impart current developments as well as the practical solutions and planning opportunities in structuring and reporting state and local tax transactions. This year's forum will include topics on income & franchise tax developments, sales & use tax developments and SALT forum sessions.

Ray Freda has over 19 years of experience in state and local tax and advising clients with respect to income/franchise, capital, gross receipts, sales and use, property, employment and other state industry specific excise taxes. In addition, he has extensive transactional experience including sell side tax planning and EBITDA enhancement, due diligence, state tax structuring, transfer tax analysis and remediation and post-acquisition integration and planning.
