Andrew Bernard, Thomas Cryan, Scott Thomas and Chuck Chubb will be presenting at the “WTAS 2013 Tax & Legislative Update” on Wednesday, June 5th from 7:30am – 9:30am PST. The event will take place at the Bellevue Club in Seattle.
Andrew Bernard will present, Corporate & International Tax. He has over 29 years of experience with U.S. and international tax matters in areas including taxable and tax-free international mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings for U.S. and non-U.S. based corporations, partnerships and S corporations.
Thomas Cryan's presentation, IRS Exams & Appeals, will cover complex provisions of the Internal Revenue Code, including the statute of limitations for deficiencies and overpayments, the mitigation provisions, the unified audit procedures for TEFRA partnerships, reportable transactions, accuracy-related penalties for underpayments, information reporting penalties, reporting foreign financial accounts and various other procedural statues and regulations. He has over 22 years of experience in assisting clients in tax controversies. In this capacity he has represented clients before the IRS in pre-filing agreements, the examination phase through the appeals phase and post appeals mediation.
Scott Thomas is in the State and Local Tax Group with particular expertise in minimizing multistate corporate tax liabilities and limiting corporate tax exposures. He also helps clients resolve controversies with state and local tax authorities. While he now focuses primarily on income and franchise taxes, Scott previously led an employment tax practice and has managed restructuring engagements in the areas of property tax and sales/use tax.
Chuck Chubb’s talk is on Financial Accounting for Income Taxes (ASC 740). He has over 30 years of experience advising a broad range of clients on accounting for income taxes and US Federal, State and International tax technical issues.
