Tauber to Speak at IPT’s Sales Tax Symposium

The Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT), founded in 1976, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational association serving over 4100 members representing approximately 1450 corporations, firms, or taxpayers throughout the United States and Canada. It is the only professional organization that educates, certifies and establishes strict codes of conduct for state and local income, property and sales & use tax professionals who represent taxpayers (government officials or organizations do not qualify for membership). The Institute also provides excellent educational programs in Value Added Tax (VAT) and Credits & Incentives.

IPT's Sales Tax Symposium takes place September 27-30, 2015 in Indian Wells, CA. It covers topics that are top of mind for sales and use tax professionals, delivered by experts who will provide you with best practices, alternate strategies and ways to demonstrate the value of your work to clients and employers. Jim Tauber will present two separate sessions: “Cutting Edge Concepts: Applying Sales Tax Rules to Evolving Business” and “Ask the Experts – Central”, designed to cover specific issues for central states.

James Tauber has more than 30 years of experience providing accounting, tax, technology and consulting services in various areas of state and local indirect tax. Specifically, Jim assists companies with most aspects of indirect/transaction tax compliance and planning including: tax controversies (audit defense, appeals, settlement negotiations), outsourcing, exemption certificate management, M&A (sell-side, buy-side, due diligence and post-transaction integration), nexus reviews, procedure/policy manuals, process review/automation, refund analysis, Sarbanes-Oxley consulting (process documentation, testing & remediation), tax determination tools, tax software implementation, training, transactional analysis, and voluntary disclosure/amnesty participation. Jim has also assisted clients with unclaimed property/escheat tax compliance, process review/automation and participation in voluntary disclosure/amnesty programs.
