Tauber to Speak at the Chicago Tax Club on Sales Use & Property Taxes
During the 2014 April Meeting of the Chicago Tax Club, Jim Tauber, is part of a panel session on Sales Use & Property Taxes. Taking place at McDonald’s Corporation Hamburger University in Oakbrook, IL, on April 7, 2014, this full day meeting features nationally recognized tax experts speaking on a variety of current tax issues.
Jim’s panel session will examine the historical application of Illinois sourcing of the local Retailers Occupation Tax (ROT), review the current impact of the Illinois Supreme Court's ruling in Hartney Fuel Oil Company v. Hamer and contemplate the prospective application of the new rules governing local ROT sourcing to hopefully avoid any unpleasant future surprises.
With over 30 years of experience, Jim brings expertise to each session where discussion topics will include recent/proposed changes affecting property taxes, what to include in a due diligence review to determine if there are outstanding or hidden sales/use tax liabilities and other relevant issues. Jim has extensive business and tax experience including providing tax, technology, and business consulting services in many areas of state and local sales/use and transaction taxes.
