Good Advice

The most valuable lesson that I have learned in all scenarios is treating everyone fairly, providing the same opportunities, and doing the right thing always pays off.

Q&A

What is your current role?

I’m the Office Managing Director of the Chicago office at Andersen. I have over 20 years of experience advising publicly held and private companies on tax matters such as accounting for income taxes, accounting methods, tax controversies, and federal & state tax compliance.

What is your specialty?

I am primarily focused on accounting for income taxes under ASC 740, tax controversy, tax compliance, transaction advisory such as tax structuring, tax due diligence, and integration of post-transaction tax matters including business combination requirements under ASC 740.

What groups or causes do you support at Andersen or within your community?

Over the years I have been involved and supported many committees within Andersen. Some of those have included the Diversity Council, Recruiting, Office MD Mentor Champion, and many different fundraisers. In my community, I support the Madonna Foundation.  The Foundation focuses on raising money for minorities and their education in order to prepare them for college. Over the years, we have hosted “Career Day” for high school students, where we share insights about pursuing an accounting or related business degree, and potential employment opportunities upon graduation.

Describe your career path and why you chose Andersen:

Before joining Andersen, I worked at Kraft Foods as a Tax Reporting Manager and at Grant Thornton as a Tax Senior Manager, where I advised clients in various corporate tax engagements. I chose Andersen because I wanted to join a firm where it was possible to contribute to its growth and make a difference. Solving today’s most complex tax challenges takes people with different experiences and points of view to provide best-in-class service for our clients. This means building a workforce that reflects the diversity of the people we serve. Andersen is committed to fostering a culture of awareness and understanding, where you are respected, honored, and celebrated.

How has Andersen set you up for success?

Andersen has given me many opportunities to participate in initiatives over the years and continue to prove myself. Those opportunities were stepping stones and instrumental to my current role as Office Managing Director of the Chicago Office.
